TRAVELER’S Notebook Turns Twenty — and Arrives in a New Size

The TRAVELER’S Notebook has been around since 2006. That’s twenty years of the same simple idea: a leather cover, a brass fastener, and a set of interchangeable paper refills, made to be carried everywhere and filled gradually over years. It’s not a complicated product, which is partly why it works.

To mark the twentieth anniversary, TRAVELER’S Company has done something that feels entirely in the spirit of the notebook: they didn’t release a special colourway or a commemorative edition of an existing size. They made a new size.

The Card Size: something genuinely new

The Card Size is the smallest format in the TRAVELER’S family — smaller than both the Regular and the Passport, and genuinely designed for a trouser pocket. The leather cover measures 110×75mm. To put that in perspective: a standard business card is 85×55mm. The Card Size cover is a little larger than that, which means it will hold a credit card, a folded note, or a few small receipts, and sit in the right pocket without getting in the way.

This isn’t a scaled-down version of an existing notebook. The Card Size was developed specifically for the anniversary, and the thinking behind it is different from the Regular and Passport sizes. Those notebooks are for writing. The Card Size is for having on you. The goal is to reduce friction to zero: it goes in your pocket, it’s there when you need it, and you don’t need to think about it until then.

What’s in the anniversary set

Both sets — Black and Brown — arrive as complete systems. Each box contains:

  • Leather Card Size cover (110×75mm)
  • Three MD Paper White refill notebooks (blank, 32 pages, saddle-stitched)
  • Two MD Paper Cream refill notebooks (blank, 32 pages, saddle-stitched)
  • Grey cotton zipper case
  • Kraft paper folder
  • Two silicone connecting rubber bands and a spare orange band
  • Cotton bag and presentation box

Set into the cover, the combination functions as a notebook, a compact wallet, a card holder, or a pocket pouch — depending on what you load into it. The kraft paper folder and zipper case give you two separate storage layers beyond the refill notebooks, which is genuinely useful for keeping cards and receipts separate from your writing.

MD Paper is TRAVELER’S Company’s own house stock: a smooth, fountain pen-friendly sheet that takes ink cleanly without feathering or bleed. Five refills at 32 pages each gives you 160 pages before you need to think about ordering more.

Black or Brown

The difference between the two colourways is straightforward. Black leather sits at the quieter end of the TRAVELER’S palette — understated, consistent with the look of most everyday carry gear, and slower to show wear. Brown is the original TRAVELER’S colourway: it develops a visible patina with handling, warming and deepening at the corners and spine in a way that black leather doesn’t show as readily. If patina is part of the appeal, Brown is the honest choice. If you’d rather the leather stay looking the same for longer, Black will do that.

Both are £85.00.

Available from the 23rd April at bradburyART while stocks last

Both colourways are in stock now. These are limited production — made for the anniversary, not a permanent addition to the TRAVELER’S range — and will not be replenished once sold through.

If you’ve been thinking about a TRAVELER’S Notebook and wanted a reason, a twentieth anniversary set in a brand new format is a reasonable one.
