Kimberley Harris – Painting Light, Memory & Emotion

Kimberley Harris is a contemporary British landscape painter known for her luminous oil paintings, which capture the emotional atmosphere of the countryside. Working almost entirely with a palette knife, her richly textured scenes of wildflower meadows, vast skies, and changing light invite a personal, reflective response from the viewer.

Her artistic journey began in Colchester, Essex, where an early visit to a Turner exhibition with her father left a lasting impression. Although she spent several years creating commissioned portraits, it wasn’t until 2014—following a chance encounter with plein air painter David Porteous-Butler—that she returned to oil painting with renewed energy. From that moment, her focus shifted to landscape and light, and her distinctive palette knife technique was born.

Kimberley’s skies are soft but powerful. She paints from memory and experience, often inspired by the Suffolk countryside near her home. Every canvas is built up in layers, blending tone, light and texture to create that sense of place and time that collectors love. Her influences include Turner and the Impressionists, but her style is very much her own—elegant, emotive, and grounded in memory.

Today, her work is collected across the UK, USA, and Australia. She exhibits regularly and continues to grow her audience, with new original works and hand-embellished limited editions released throughout the year.
