Prompt is a further work in Hook's equestrian series, exploring the moment of readiness — a horse and rider at the point of action, before the movement begins. Hook's layered technique renders this charged instant in multiple simultaneous states: the tension of stillness, the imminence of motion. The title is characteristically precise — a prompt is a cue, a beginning, the moment before.
