Overlooking Saltburn is a 50 x 100 cm original painted live by Nigel Cooke, mixed media on board. Saltburn-by-the-Sea's Victorian pier is the subject, with the publisher's colour notes of orange, yellow, green and blue. Framed to 70.8 x 120.8 cm.
A live painting is finished in front of an audience, in one sitting, with no chance to go back the next morning. For a Yorkshireman painting a Yorkshire seaside town it is a fitting way to work, and the drip style suits the pace: the paint has to be allowed to do some of the work itself.
