Michael Harding spent years refusing to make a medium — his position was that good paint on the right support, thinned only with more oil, doesn't need one. The Miracle Medium changed that. It's a plant-based, solvent-free formulation that extends oil paint without the smell, the ventilation requirements, or the long-term film brittleness associated with turpentine-based mediums.

The formula uses ester oils derived from renewable vegetable sources. Unlike traditional solvent-resin mediums, it doesn't introduce a resin that could yellow or crack over time — the dried paint film retains the flexibility of a straight oil paint film. It was developed with conservation considerations in mind, which is unusual for a commercial medium.

Miracle Medium increases flow and transparency without significantly altering the paint's handling character. Use 1–3 drops per brushload for most applications; more for glazing. It's also effective as a brush-cleaner at the end of a session, which reduces solvent use further. Available in 100ml, 250ml, and 1 litre — all three are identical in composition.

Particularly useful for painters working in confined spaces or who are sensitive to solvent fumes, and for those working on fabric or canvas where a flexible dried film is important. Fat-over-lean principles still apply — this is not a substitute for turpentine in lean underpainting layers.
