Fish And Chips comes from Michael Abrams' series The Art Of Good Taste, a run of still lifes about British food painted in soft pastel on fine art paper. It is a 61 x 51 cm original, float framed to 76 x 66 cm, in the publisher's noted palette of black, blue, orange and white.
Abrams blends the pastel with his fingertips rather than a tool, which gives the series its soft edges and keeps the balance he is after between naivety and sophistication. A plate of fish and chips treated with the care usually reserved for a bowl of fruit.
