Liquitex Professional White Gesso is the standard ground for acrylic painting on canvas, board, or panel. It seals the surface, provides tooth for paint adhesion, and dries flexible enough to move with canvas without cracking. The white is opaque and bright — subsequent paint layers sit cleanly on it without the substrate colour affecting the mix.
Apply in thin coats with a wide brush or palette knife, sanding lightly between layers for a smoother ground. Two or three coats is standard for canvas; wood and board may need more. Can be tinted with acrylic paint before application if you prefer a coloured ground.
Available in sizes from 118ml to 3.78L. The larger sizes are considerably better value for anyone priming regularly.
