Liquitex Satin Varnish is a permanent, breathable acrylic varnish that provides a subtle satin sheen while protecting your artwork from UV damage, dirt, and abrasion. Designed for both interior and exterior use, it enhances colour depth and improves surface durability without glossiness or glare.
What it does:
- Creates a durable, flexible satin finish
- Improves brightness, colour saturation, and surface strength
- Resists yellowing, fogging, and UV damage
- Allows moisture to escape – suitable for a range of supports
- Excellent levelling – won’t hold brush marks
How to use:
- Apply to fully dry acrylic surfaces (72 hours to 2 weeks depending on thickness)
- Stir gently – do not shake
- Use long, even strokes; apply 1–2 thin coats
- Wait at least 3 hours between coats
- For more than two coats, use Gloss Varnish as a base and Satin as the top layer
Do not:
- Use with non-acrylic media or thin with water
- Over-brush or shake, to avoid bubbles and cloudiness
- Apply in thick coats or go back over drying areas
