London's original work-horse — the black cab — gets the Linda Charles treatment. Work-Horse is an original mixed media collage on panel in reds, blues and blacks threaded with Union Jack iconography, the whole surface sealed under her high-lacquer finish so it reads as glossy and graphic as the city it celebrates.
Charles studied textiles and fashion, and it shows: heavy texture, layered patternation and mixed media are her signatures, most recently seen in her sell-out Pulp re-imagined collections. Her originals reward both the quick look and the long one — pattern from across the room, detail up close.
