A meadow that has found its one note of red. Kimberley Harris works the greens and blues of a Suffolk field flat and cool, then lets the poppies do all the talking — a small painting built around a single decision.
Harris came back to painting in 2014, when the Suffolk artist David Porteous-Butler put oils and a palette knife in her hands. The knife is why her fields carry that ridge of texture: colour laid on in layers rather than brushed smooth, so the light sits on the surface.
