About This Product

Forty centimetres tall and a full metre wide, Pastoral Symphony is built for a long wall — a panoramic sweep of wildflower meadow worked almost entirely with the palette knife. Kimberley Harris doesn't paint the flowerheads so much as build them: ridges and dabs of oil laid edge to edge, each one catching the light at a slightly different angle. Up close it reads as pure texture; step back and the meadow settles into depth and distance.

That debt to light goes back to a childhood Turner exhibition at the Tate her father took her to — by her own account, Turner's influence is 'never far from my thoughts'. She trained in art and design and returned to painting in earnest in 2014, after fellow Suffolk artist David Porteous-Butler put a palette knife in her hand. Her work now hangs in collections across the UK, the US and Australia.

At bradburyART we're Northern Ireland's stockist for Kimberley Harris's originals. This is a genuine one-off — available to order and delivered framed, ready to hang. Contact us for more on the piece or to arrange a viewing.
