Horsewell was born on the borders of London and Essex in 1956, the son of professional artist Ron Horsewell, and grew up with painting all around him. By the time he left school he was proficient across pastel, watercolour, acrylic and oil, and it is acrylic that now carries his coastal work and its vivid sense of light.
