About This Product

The newest size in the Gelli range, and a thoughtful one — 9×12" gives you exactly the working area you need to pull bleed prints on A4 or US Letter paper, without the awkward cropping you'd get on the 8×10. If you want your prints to run all the way to the paper edge, this is the plate to use.

Each plate ships with a mylar acetate sheet ruled with 1-inch grid lines, designed to slip under the plate while you compose. The grid shows through and helps you place stencils, mask edges, and balance compositions accurately — a small thing that quietly removes a lot of guesswork.

Like the rest of the range, the plate itself is made from mineral oil and proprietary binders, developed by Joan Bess in Pennsylvania to replace traditional gelatin printing plates that had to be cooked, refrigerated, and replaced when they cracked or grew mould. The Gelli version delivers the same tacky, ink-receptive printing surface in a permanent, washable form.

To monoprint, roll out acrylic or water-based block printing ink with a brayer, build the surface with stencils, found objects, fabric, or plant material, then press paper onto the plate and lift. Each pull is unique. Non-toxic and latex-free. A strong choice if you're framing your prints to standard A4 or US Letter.

Size: 9" × 12" (22.9 × 30.5 cm)
Includes: 1" grid mylar composition sheet
Material: Mineral oil and proprietary binders. Non-toxic, latex-free.
Care: Cleans with soap and water. Store flat at room temperature.
