PAR is a Dutch brand — Print Art Read — whose cyanotype kits won DIY Kit of the Year at Creative World Frankfurt. Every kit is assembled in the Netherlands by a workplace that employs people with distance to the standard workforce, and the packaging is recycled, biodegradable, or FSC-certified throughout. Worth knowing before you open it.
The Fabric Kit brings the cyanotype process — discovered in 1842 and responsible for the architectural term "blueprint" — to textiles, canvas, and mixed-media surfaces. You sensitise the fabric with the two-part solution (Part A and Part B, mixed in equal parts), lay objects, botanicals, or a printed transparency on top, expose to sunlight for a few minutes, then rinse in water. Where the sun hits, the fabric turns deep Prussian blue; where it is blocked, the surface stays white. The result is permanent once dry.
The kit contains enough sensitiser for substantial experimentation on fabric and includes gloves, foam brush, rinse tray, transparencies compatible with inkjet printers, and step-by-step instructions in English, French, German, and Dutch. Cold-pressed acid-free paper included where applicable. Not recommended for under 12s.
