What it is
Winsor & Newton Artists’ Oil Colour 200ml — the professional oil paint that has been the studio standard since 1832.
The materials
Pigments are ground in refined linseed or safflower oil depending on the colour, with no unnecessary extenders. Every colour in the range carries a lightfastness rating and an oil content figure — technical transparency that allows painters to make informed decisions about their paint film. Permanence ratings are independently assessed.
Who it’s for
Painting students who have made the decision to work professionally, and established oil painters who have settled on the best. The range covers over 120 colours including genuine cadmiums, cobalts, and the house Winsor colours that set the benchmark for synthetic pigment quality.
How to use it
Follow the fat-over-lean principle as layers build: more medium in upper layers to allow the paint film to cure correctly. Artists’ Oil can be used direct from the tube, or extended with alkyd or linseed mediums to adjust drying time and finish.
Why we stock it
Artists’ Oil Colour is our core professional oil range. It’s what we recommend when artists ask for the best.
