Under Tow is a 76 x 76 cm square in oil on canvas, a format with no obvious top or bottom edge to lean on, so the composition has to hold itself together. It is a substantial piece at 105 x 105 cm framed.
Alison Johnson works in layered oils, building atmosphere through light and shadow so that her landscapes and seascapes feel felt as much as seen.
