Arches has been making watercolour paper in Lorraine, France since 1492 — which means they had already been at it for nearly 500 years before bradburyART opened in Belfast. That kind of heritage does not happen by accident. This rough-surface gummed pad is mould-made from 100% cotton, sized with gelatine on both sides, and weighs 300gsm — heavy enough to take aggressive wet-on-wet work without buckling.
The rough surface is the most textured of the three Arches surfaces, well suited to expressive, granulating washes and work that benefits from the paper pushing back a little. Twelve sheets per pad, 36 x 26cm. The gummed binding releases cleanly once work is dry.
